Through a united effort of coal companies and coal industry suppliers, the Western Kentucky Coal industry can develop its full potential while continuing to contribute to the welfare of Western Kentucky and the Nation, as well as the future prosperity of the industry and its support industries.
Coal touches every Kentuckian. Coal provides 96% of the state's electrical power and mining is the state's largest industrial employer. Western Kentucky is almost totally dependent on the electric power market with 97.4% of its coal going to electric power plants.
